NOTD ~ Galaxy/Nebula effect

[NOTD - nail of the day]

٩(^‿^)۶
hello everybody!

I've tried the sponging technique in the past but was unsure about the stickiness and it never occurred to me that the top coat would flatten the design as opposed to giving it a texture.

Instead of using a black nail polish as the base colour I decided to choose a dark sparkly blue to go along with the space theme

ripped off a corner of a cheap makeup sponge for this technique. To avoid getting a block colour on the nail it's essential to dab off the excess and continue onto the nail, sponging on more as you go along til you've happy with the cloudy effect you're after

I sponged on the white differently on each nail to create a wider aspect of the galaxy/nebula effect I'm going for

remember to leave space for the other colours when sponging onto the nail

slowly building up the colour palette but I've only chosen three other colours to add on top to avoid overcrowding and confusion

alternatively you could finish with just the sponging but I personally like to add speckles of stars in the background using a cocktail stick or bobby pin to add some depth to the nail art
seal with a top coat
et voila~

Galaxy/ Nebula nail art done!

Hope you guys have fun trying out this quick and easy tutorial as I'm sure there will be a few old sponges laying around for this technique :D

DIY Minecraft Painting ~ soon

Being a geek I like to bring game-related stuff into reality. So far I have only done that through cosplay (recently dressed up as Alice from Madness Returns Hysteria Mode).

The image below would be the painting I'm basing my current DIY project on. I've managed to do a small painting of the diamond ore but it's inspired me to have my own Minecraft paintings around the house.

I've drawn the grid so I can locate specific colours and hopefully it will turn out great :D watch out for the next few posts or so for the tutorial!

DIY ombré hair [Part 1]

So the ombré hair effect has become popular over the past few years and still trending even today. Contemplating and to avoid my mum getting a real shock on the choice of colour...I will have to bleach my hair (darn my thick Asian black hair...-sighs- ●︿●). At first I wanted the bottom half of my hair to be red but not so vibrant and because it's not going to be ultra blonde straight away it's not going to be the colour shown on the box...I HOPE!!! (°∀°)...

On with the tutorial!

These were on offer "2 products for £7.49" on all Schwarzkopf hair products or £5.99/£3.99 (messed up the pricing sorry) each saving me 49p (yay). I would have opted for the Shake It Up Foam in Ice Blonde Blast but I wasn't so certain that it would work effectively as a bleach so stuck with the usual hair dye.

I bought the Hypnotic Red 37 and Max Blonde 00B. On the side it would show roughly the end result of the dye with specific hair tones. My only concern was my stubborn hair it's not virgin hair but has previously been dyed using same brand but Mystic Violet 87. That...only tinted my hair and I received different responses such as 'your hair looks red...purple...ginger...red'...stubborn indeed!

The kit shown here is only from the Max Blonde set as it's part 1 of the ombré effect. Tinting kit is from Boots £4.69 and the range of brushes belongs to me as back combing sections of hair near the roots prevents the obvious border between the bleach and natural hair.

I read up that covering the bleached area with foil helps speed up the process -shrugs- guess it does help but willing to try for the first time. There is the tint of previous hair colour reflecting from the natural light outside and I have sufficient hair length to do this ombré effect.

Instructions were provided on mixing the solution inside the squeezy bottle that was including in the kit. It's more convenient for me to use the brush as I feel using my fingers might get the bleach everywhere and miss a few areas. Emptying the bleach into the mixing bowl, backcombed my roots, I went ahead and brushed 1/3 down on 1/4 sectioned hair. Obviously using the foil to give myself a back to work against it was very difficult to do everything mirrored because my hair length is not that long for me to just simply look down and do. I did struggle at the beginning but it was a breeze for the other side.

Now that the tips are waiting for the bleach to take action...I WAS BORED and felt like I was taking a trip to the oven (haha...). I did a lot of research as to how long to keep the bleach in there but I only knew that bronze would be the closest stage for this so I unwrapped all 4 foil..COBS!!! [IMPORTANT: check every 5-10 minutes to see how the colour is coming along].

Now the tricky part...with no one to help me with how far I'm sploshing the bleach (aside the occasional skin touching with the brush) I felt utterly clueless and did my best (this is the part where I weeped and hoped for the worst). Keeping in mind that this is the ombré effect I applied more on the bleached area but also further up towards my head. Again wrapped all four sections with one bit sheet of foil each and checked every 5-10 minutes til
I'm
HAPPY AS A BUMBLE BEE

One thing I can only say...I ran out of bleach when I got to the last section right at the end. Just managed to move the mixture up but...it's more obvious in the second image...I was being to generous with the rest of the hair! HAHAHAHAHAHA...serves me right.

I was thinking of buying more bleach but it would screw up the whole process and having to balance out everything so...it might not look too bad when I use the red dye next month. My hair hates me so I'm letting it rest...for a month!!! I wanted blue or purple but it would look pretty awkward according to my sister plus she was totally against this in the first place haha!

Have any of you guys attempted dip dye/ombré effect before and did it involve any other colours? Til the second part ~

DIY Chocolate Lip Scrub

I'm not entirely happy with the messed up weather and it's been snowing this month as well! Crazy -tut tut-. My lips have been experiencing the winter season again so I've decided to show you guys this chocolate lip scrub I've been meaning to do. Be warned though it's more to my "taste" so changes would be made during the process.

Ingredients you'll need :          Tools you'll need:

> brown sugar                     > clean empty containers
> honey                           > clean bowl to mix in
> cocoa                           > spoons (preferably 2)

Now for the fun part:

1 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon or cocoa and 1 teaspoon of honey

Mix all the ingredients together and place into small containers or any tightly sealed container should do the job.

I use my EOS Lemon Drop to moisturise my lips after washing off the lip scrub

If it feels a little too stiff I cheated a little and added extra virgin olive oil (°∀°). This should be used once or twice a week depending on how dry your lips are but DON'T over scrub as this can weaken your lips even more and it's not a pretty sight!

Things to remember:

> scrub once or twice a week never more
> you only need a small amount to rub onto your lips

> wouldn't be ideal to lick your dead skin as well so...
> rinse well with lukewarm water and pat dry with towel
> it's important to moisturise your lips afterwards with a lip balm

This was my first time making a lip scrub but it can be altered to suit you so leave me a comment if you find this "recipe" was lacking in certain areas so I can keep that in mind for when I make other flavours in future.

My DIY blog

Hey guys check out my other blog Easy Like DIY where I post up easy yet simple DIY tutorials with a possible budget I can work within. This was originally for one of my university projects during second year but I have decided to go ahead and maintain the blog as well as this one. It's the thought process that counts but it's always nice to go the extra mile on a gift for someone else. I've been doing this for quite some time but never knew how to post anything up back then however it would be nice to share ideas that I have been inspired by for you guys.

I'm not a professional when it comes to crafting but I enjoy it during my free time. If I see ideas on days out in the City or online it motivates me to jot down how I would go about making my own or just for fun.

If anyone wants to suggest or ask me for ideas feel free to message me on here and I will try my best to help if not please enjoy the rest of my two blogs for browsing.

Studding Project No.1 - Sleeveless denim jacket

I've watched and looked into the projects people have been putting up on their blogs with the studs they've purchased. This is something I have been dwelling for some time now but never got round to doing so. In one of my previous post I have mentioned receiving my pyramid studs through the post and have managed to make use of them before I forget about them (most likely it'll be before my summer holiday ends ●﹏●). Grabbed my New Look sleeveless hoodie for this first project bwhahaha, bought it during sales earlier this year.

On with the project:

Stage 1: pierce the studs careful not to accidentally prick into your finger(s) [which I have a few times so please be careful]. The parts that are used to pierce through the clothing would need to "close in" for safety and I used a pair of scissors giving me more control and less fidgety.

Stage 2: also think about the positions you'd want the studs to be and how close they would be situated next to one another and because mine are 1cm studs I didn't want to risk clumping the collars too much.

Stage 3: once you're satisfied with the first row of studs you will have a clear idea of positioning the other rows however you like.

Stage 4: noticing the collars width thinning and not wanting to burden the look so went for the "gradient" look with these studs.

Stage 5: et voila ~ c'est fini!

Somehow the left side of the collar is noticeably showing the -ahem- bad placements of the studs but it was my first time using these studs so it's not that bad for a beginner you could say. All in all I've got some many projects I want to use these studs for so...

Project No.1 successful? YES ☑

Pyramid Studs have arrived!

DIY Projects commence!
Just thought I'd do a quick post for what I've been waiting for through the post...pyramid studs! Manage to order 200 of these little 10mm studs on ebay [Link} only because I've been wanting to do my own DIY detachable collars or stud my own clothing in this case...my denim jackets, shirt collars...whatever I can grab my hands on xD haha.

Look how decent these look! :3

Right just use one stud on the corner of my sleeveless denim jacket and it looks really good (sorry no pics til I'm done decorating alone the way :D). The size is reasonable good but when I'm low on these I'm definitely going back for me (making it sound like drugs...my bad xD).
